PPCLINK Mobile Studio UX across dozens of utility, education, and casual game apps

Summary

Designed dozens of mobile products for an in-house studio in Hanoi — utility apps, children's education, casual games — and worked on the studio's biggest client projects alongside them.

Problem

The studio shipped app after app across categories that had nothing to do with each other. Nobody could start each one from scratch and still ship on time, so the way we approached UX had to be repeatable.

Approach

Every app started the same way. Pull apart the competitors, read what the category was doing that year, then work the findings through design and engineering until they showed up in the build.

"Two years of designing for categories I knew nothing about taught me to read the competitors and the trend data before trusting my own taste."
